week one blog
I guess the first thing I learned is this class was how to make a blogger account. I never used my gmail account for anything but checking email, so I didn't know how to do this. On to the real stuff. The first day of class wasn't that big, we just went over what the class was going to be like in the upcoming month. On Thursday, however, we went through a lot of things and I'll try my best to summarize what I remember. Thursday was a very informative class where the main objective was to become better researchers. We all know and get frustrated when we try to find something and millions of pages come up, most of which not having any relevance to your topic of interest. The libraries website proves to be a very good source to do research, weather it be by book or website. I can use the research methods taught in this class to make things much easier for me to find, and get myself much better information. Though I learned a lot in the first class, there are still many things that are vague to me. The library website is a very informative site, which can also be bad for first time users, with many links to press and many different pages to go to. If I would pick one thing that I learned it would be that I am more aware of how to narrow down searches and find trustworthy websites easier. There are a few things that were taught that I would like to learn more about. For one, I am still confused about all the different links you can go to on one page and than even more links on the next page. There is still one question I have where I saw major confusion in the head. How do you look for books? This was showed but I am so confused on how you have to type stuff in to look for it and then a bunch of different sources come up. When We were in class, it just didn't seem like it helped that much.

I do believe the thursday class was to help us better understand the libraries website and to teach us on how to become better researchers.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree that some things in the library website are still a little vague. I hope that over the next few weeks, we will all develop a better understanding!
ReplyDeleteI agree - by looking over the libraries website i have learned that when looking for a book you must check one of the buttons on the side that says " books/ebooks". i have found a couple of books by using this method.
